Who created God?

If something comes into existence, it must have a cause that caused it to come into existence. Just as a book has an author, or a pencil has a manufacturer or a painting has a painter who made it; everything that exists has a cause that triggered the beginning of its existence. In other words, things do not just pop into being by themselves, there has to be something that causes them to happen; and all things that begin, have a start – a cause to their beginning.

Consider the universe now! Scientists once believed a theory that the universe always existed without beginning or end – Steady State Theory! The scientific evidence now clearly refers to the “Big Bang”, as the specific point in time when the universe came into being! Space-time-matter-energy had a distinct singular beginning. Since it did not always exist (in perpetuity), but came into existence, at a certain point, it has to have a causative trigger that created it! It can’t just create itself, simply like a mother cannot give birth to herself, or a mobile phone cannot self-create itself!

Now, let’s fit the same paradigm to the One who triggered the Big Bang! Let’s give Him a name and call him The God, and assume if, The God Himself had another God, and that God in turn had another God creating Him… and let’s continue to regress this chain infinitely…! Would it ever terminate or close at any point? The answer is: No! If that was the case, would we ever have the beginning of the universe – the Big Bang? The answer is: No, Never…!

But the fact of the matter is: The Big Bang actually did happen! And the Creation had a beginning, which continues to exist today! And our own existence, is the most profound witness of the Creation! It means, someone actually pulled the trigger, and caused the Big-Bang to happen! And this “Someone – The God’ was definitely free from this “chain of infinite regress”. The God had to be free from any other cause triggering His Own existence!

Hence the conclusion that everything has a beginning, except The God who created the universe, as He doesn’t fit into this definition of creation! He is different from all creation, in that He always existed (has no beginning nor end), and is independent from everything that He created. The God is not only the independent being, but He has to be self-sufficient, self-existent, and perpetual, else the creation of the universe could not have happened. And this is exactly how He describes Himself in the revealed scriptures including in the last and final revelation – The Qur’an.

Entire Creation or the existence of universe cannot be explained in any other way. It could not have created itself, and it did not exist forever. Its shear coming into existence is the ‘most profound evidence’ of the presence of the Supernatural BeingThe God that caused it to happen.
